Mr. Tree

I fully expect to be struck down by the Gears of War Gods for this monstrosity...

Okay, before you tell me I've gone off my rocker, there is a background to this picture!! In the new book that just came out ('Gears of War: The Slab', in case you didn't know,) there is a scene with Anya and Dom, and they are trying to find a way to get Marcus out of jail after being court-martialed for going after his father:

"Okay, the JA says the only appeal we can possibly lodge is on medical grounds, but it's a long shot," she said, wiping her nose discreetly on the back of her hand. "If they find he's not responsible for his actions, then the guilty plea can be set aside. But then he'll end up discharged from the army anyway. He won't be pleased about that. Or being labeled mentally unfit."


"I don't care if I've got to paint him green and tell everyone he thinks he's a goddamn tree," Dom said. "We get him out, THEN we worry about what to do next."

I was reading this the other day, and the thought of Marcus pretending to be a tree made me loose it. How could I not draw a little cartoon of it?

So...yes, this is Marcus Fenix, pretending to be a tree.



Again, the switch from my iPad to my laptop did something weird with the colors. (IPad! Why you no stay the same color?!) Marcus looks really, really cartoonish here, which was my goal, but still. All in all, I'm happy with it. Be sure to tell me what you think!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go find a deep, dark hole someplace a certain gear with a lancer won't be able to find me and make me pay for this heinous act.
